I Liked His Energy….

The board of the senior co-op where I live recently interviewed a candidate for the position of on-site property manager.

As we talked following the interview, my fellow board members were making thoughtful comments about his resume and what he had said.

What I wanted to say was: “I like his energy. He’ll be perfect for us.”

Now what kind of thing is that to say at a board meeting? “I like his energy….” That is not something I would have said five years ago, before I was sucked into the vortex of qigong. It’s probably a good thing I didn’t get a chance to say it.

But there it was. He was quiet, steady, seemingly centered in some sort of integrity. Yes, he had good energy, the right kind of energy for my community—and that is what mattered more to me than his words or his credentials, which, I will add, were excellent.

So am I just using a new expression, or do I have a new way of perceiving things?

I’m not sure….

Barbara, I just wanted to say thank you for your Qi Frontier blog. I am but a novice on my own journey in comparison, having started doing qigong and taiji only 9 months ago, but I am both enjoying it all very much and learning such a lot of things I had no previous conception about. I have immersed myself in a number of books and blogs, including yours which I have found both interesting and informative. I confess one part of me is looking forward to my own qi ‘ah-ha’ moment (I have inklings of it but have put this mostly, but not entirely, down to my imagination), but at the same time practice, patience and ‘detached, non-wanting’ remain the order of the day I think. Thanks again and best regards.

    • Ours is, indeed, a fascinating journey to be on, full of inklings and doubts and occasional moments that are more real than anything could possibly be. I liked your reminder about “patience and detached, non-wanting.” If only that weren’t so hard….

Barbara never question what you feel. I was with you for a couple years and I know you. You have good energy and integrity as well. I do believe that people do perceive energy but without training some don’t know that is ——–what they feel – they can’t put words to it. You are blessed with some many qualities. I miss you. Will someday get back to QiGong. Love Patti
